Bowman’s Poison is Victorian skull wooden wall art inspired by old apothecary labels, patent remedies and dark commercial graphics.
Bowman’s Poison has the unsettling confidence of a Victorian apothecary label enlarged into a piece of wall art. A skull and crossed bones crown the shaped sign, while the oversized POISON lettering and dryly reassuring promise — “No medicine cabinet should be without it!” — give the piece the dark humour and theatrical character of a long-forgotten patent remedy.
The restrained black-and-cream finish keeps the composition graphic and architectural, allowing the carved lettering, shaped perimeter and visible timber to do the work. The result feels aged and convincing without becoming costume-like: bold from across a room, but full of hand-finished detail up close.
This is the exact finished PP045 piece shown in the photographs and is available now.
