The Havana Tobacconist — 600 × 600mm

The Havana Tobacconist is vintage wooden wall art inspired by the theatrical trade signs of old cigar and tobacco merchants.

There is something wonderfully theatrical about old tobacconist signage. It was never meant to whisper. It was designed to stop people in the street, draw them towards a doorway and make an ordinary shop feel like somewhere worth entering.

The Havana Tobacconist was built around that idea. A deep green field, warm exposed timber, cream lettering and restrained red detailing give it the feel of a long-established cigar merchant rather than a modern reproduction. At the centre sits the gentleman himself: hat low, cigar lit, framed like the proprietor whose name once carried weight above the door.

The circular format gives the piece real presence, but it is the carved depth that changes it as you move around the room. Raised lettering catches the light, the central portrait sits proud of the background, and the timber grain remains visible through the design so the surface still feels like wood rather than a printed image.

It is an unapologetically characterful piece — part trade sign, part portrait, part imagined history. The sort of thing that looks equally at home above a drinks cabinet, in a study, a home bar or anywhere that can carry something with a little atmosphere.

This is the exact finished piece shown in the photographs. Once sold, this Available Now piece is gone.
