People's Front of Judea is unique wooden wall art with carved British-comedy character, bold emblem styling and visible timber grain.
Splitters!
People's Front of Judea is a knowing nod to one of British comedy's most gloriously argumentative factions — rendered here as a bold, substantial piece of carved timber wall art. The reference may be ridiculous; the making is anything but.
The circular design has the presence of a civic crest or old political emblem. A clenched hand grips the shepherd's crook at the centre, backed by a sun-baked Judean landscape, deep blue sky and distant hillside settlement. Around it, strong cream lettering, heritage red, black framing and exposed timber grain give the whole piece the look of something that has existed far longer than it actually has.
There is a lot of machining and hand finishing packed into the 600mm diameter. The hand, crook, mountains and buildings are all built from layered carved linework, while the raised lettering and stars sit strongly against the red outer ring. Natural timber is deliberately left visible through the landscape and lower banner so the grain becomes part of the artwork rather than simply the material underneath it.
At 600mm across, it is large enough to command a wall without becoming difficult to place. It works particularly well in a kitchen, dining room, bar, snug or anywhere that can carry a piece with humour, character and a little irreverence.
Made properly. Front to back.
Made in our rural Leicestershire workshop from 19mm hardwood-veneered engineered timber, with hardwood veneer to both faces. Each colour is hand-applied to work with the timber rather than hide it. The side edge is painted, the reverse is fully finished, the piece is protected with a sprayed satin clear coat and it is supplied ready to hang with two D-rings and stainless-steel wire.
Size: 600mm diameter
